Local placement area
High Speed Rail (Crewe – Manchester) Environmental Statement, Glossary, abbreviations and references, published by the Department for Transport in 2022, defines a local placement area as: ‘Land already required for construction of the scheme to be used for the permanent placement of surplus excavated materials, which will subsequently be restored for agricultural use.’
